Management of cranes

Storage cranes are used for automatic inputting and outputting of goods to/from storage shelves and are found in many variants. LOGIA has efficient control modules for all of the most common types on the market, including:

• Miniload cranes
• Pallet cranes/high bay cranes
• Gravity lane store

• Carousel store

Each individual crane type is found in several versions depending on how the crane’s “retriever” is configured, and how many storage media it can transport at a time (from single depth to quadruple depth).

The cranes must be handled differently in the way they are controlled in order to achieve the maximum utilisation of the warehouse and the most efficient inputting and outputting capacity.

Optimisation and "Load Balancing"
LOGIA’s crane module controls and optimises each crane’s capacity and – in warehouses with several cranes – the cranes’ mutual capacity and utilisation. The module operates according to the following control and optimisation principles:

• Inputting algorithms
• Optimisation routines
• Goods distribution
• Load Balancing

The advanced “load balancing” functionality ensures that a breakdown on a part of the system or a crane can be balanced by the other cranes such that operations can be maintained.
